Alice in Wonderland was always one of my favourite stories as a little girl. I must have watched the animated tale of fantasy, nonsense and peculiar characters a hundred times over the years! When we saw that Alice Through the Looking Glass was to be released as a motion picture, my mom and I promised we’d watch it together.
You can imagine my delight then, when an invite to the Perth Preview Showcase of Alice Through the Looking Glass at Event Cinemas Innaloo popped up in my inbox last week – followed a few days later with an exclusive (flamboyant and eccentric) postal invitation to the pre-premiere Mad Hatters high tea party! Well, it’s not everyday you get an invite to a Mad Hatters tea party… let alone one with cupcakes and red rose cocktails!
Before the film premiere a selection of Perth influencers (and my very excited mom) ventured down the rabbit hole and through to an incredible high tea wonderland, nestled in a roped off area of the Gold Class Lounge. A stunning long table was covered in moss and fresh flowers, iconic timepieces and laden with chintzy miss-matched china tea-sets, floral silverware and tiered cake-stands piled high with delightful sugary, sweet treats.
Cocktails were on tap (teapot?) from Cocktail Gastronomy, who crafted an eccentric take on strawberry cosmos; using liquid nitrogen and real rosebuds to add to the wonder and impossible deliciousness of the evening. Funnily enough, it was these guys who collaborated with The Classroom to put on the amazing Alice In Wonderland Cocktail Degustation event I attended last Spring!
To ensure we weren’t late for a very important date, guests were then invited to stock up on more yummy EAT ME and DRINK ME goodies (bubblegum ice cream and raspberry macaroons were two personal favourites) before entering into the magical world and exclusive Premiere screening of Alice Through the Looking Glass – which was every bit as wonderful as you’d expect from a star-studded (oh, hi Johnny Depp) Tim Burton motion picture!
Just check out those stunning florals by Fox & Rabbit! I couldn’t resist getting my pic snapped. And yes, I was totally dressed like Alice.
Thank you to gorgeous Tash from Natasha Louise Enterprises and Disney Australia for a gorgeous evening – and for keeping the magic alive even after all these years!
Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in movie theatres this Thursday 26 May. Get lost in the amazing trailer below… and don’t forget to tell me what you thought of the movie!
