Welcome To My Little Slice Of Cyberspace! 💁🏼♀️
Hi, I’m Katie Rebekah – a forty-something Aussie citizen with a British accent, a love of adventure, a passion for storytelling and a fondness for overthinking. These are the musings from a life spent juggling creative passions, an ever-growing #TBR pile, our small (but spirited) petting zoo – and all the beautiful chaos of this wild and wonderful journey we call life.
My journey so far has brought me from beautiful Britain to sunny Perth, Western Australia, where I’ve lived since 2014. I started this blog in 2015 as a creative outlet – partly to document my new life Down Under, and partly for my late Grannie and friends back home – to follow my Perth-ect adventures from afar.
What began as a personal project soon grew into a cosy little corner of the internet filled with writing, photography and the occasional sponsored gig (back when online collaborations were shiny and new). I loved every bit of it – the beauty content, the travel writing, the content creation. I stayed true to myself, said yes only to projects that lit me up, and created content that genuinely fulfilled me.
One of my proudest moments? Becoming a brand ambassador for Perth’s leading hair icons, Maurice Meade. Being part of their family and featuring in their campaigns has been a dream – and yes, Mum has a scrapbook of every MM campaign from the last decade.
But beyond the collabs, I’ve always just loved to write – it’s my escape. My most-read post, The Return To Atlantis, has clocked over 10,000 unique hits. This was a personal piece created from hours of research and adventure – exploring a unique part of the WA landscape, simply because it captivated me.
But then life happened. I bought a house. Became an Aussie citizen. Got a dog. Dealt with heartbreaking family health challenges and losses. I landed a dream job overseeing the brand and marketing for one of WA’s top hospitality operators. I met a boy (we’ll call him DDG), fell in love, got engaged (finally!!) – and, well… my priorities shifted. My creativity was being channelled. My cup was full.
And just like that, suddenly, blog deadlines felt less like passion and more like pressure. I needed a break (it’s not you, it’s me.) And so, I hit pause. No dramatic farewell – just a quiet sign-off and a promise that I’d come back when it felt right.
Fast forward a few years later, and here we are. The blog’s still here, just with a little less structure and a lot more heart (and hopefully fewer cringe moments – oh, bless Past Me).
These days, I write when I feel like it – about whatever lights me up. Usually my latest reads, hair, the zoo, or whatever Maurice Meade / Kérastase product I’m obsessing over. No rules, no pressures, no schedules. (It’s not like anyone other than Mum and DDG reads it anyway!)
As always, all ramblings are entirely my own (i.e. the voices in my head). And if you’ve made it this far – thanks for being here, and for savouring the little slice of cyberspace I call home.
xK
