I couldn’t resist posting about this little dude’s first birthday… C’mon now, you all know what a crazy bird lady I am!

If you didn’t already know, Thor literally flew into my life at the end of last year – on Halloween to be exact. Without going into the whole story (because you can actually read it here), I was on the Swan Valley Birds waiting list for a few months before they called me at the end of October saying they had a baby galah just about ready to take home.

He was just over three months old when we brought him into our lives, and me being me (birthdays are just my favourite!), I wanted to firm up his birthday. When I did the math, I arrived at around July 24 – which really made me smile as that was the same date as my beloved grannies birthday. Sadly we lost my grannie a week before Christmas last year and she is no longer with us, but what a gorgeous reminder that my cheeky chappy Thor shares her special day. I know it made her smile.

So, today we are of course thinking of my amazing grannie, but also raising a glass and celebrating Thor’s first birthday with a huge sunflower seed cake (yum) and lots of flocking and snuggles.

Happy birthday, little man! You rock pink feathers better than any other guy I know!
