Anyone who knows me (or follows my blog) knows how much I adore chasing a good adventure.

So when my bestie Sam suggested visiting Lesmurdie Falls after she saw it on the Perth To Do Instagram (I know, isn’t she just perfect?!), I was packed and ready to go in under an hour.

It took just a 40 minute journey out of Perth (including coffee stops) for us to reach the stunning Lesmurdie Falls National Park, nestled up in the hills east of Perth, where the Lesmurdie Falls call home.

It was a a perfect day for a hike in the bush – the overcast skies came in pockets of bright blue and moody grey (we only got drizzled on once), the winter air fresh, and the park vegetation lush, green and very red. We really couldn’t have chosen a more perfect time to visit… In the week leading up to our adventure, Perth had been treated to a good few solid days downpour so the gushing waterfall was on pretty top form for us! It’s pretty easy to see why the 50 metre waterfall makes Lesmundie Falls one of the more spectacular waterfalls on the Darling Range escarpment.

There were several scenic hiking trails to choose from, varying in degrees of challenge and distance. We did The Foot of the Falls trail, which required good balancing skills and winging-it attitude – and the Valley Loop trail, which seriously worked out our quads once we actually found it… It was more like an overgrown, badly signed mountain climb! But totally worth it – after going several kilometres off-piste at least three times, the peak treated us to stunning views of the Perth city skyline, hills and airport. I can only imagine how beautiful it will look in the Springtime when the seasonal wildflowers come out to play.

Enjoy the pictures guys!

Fantastic article and pictures Katie! I convinced my husband to take me to LM after showing him your pics. We had weather just as bad as you I think judging by your pictures! Looking forward to seeing what other adventures you get up to. Thanks again from one West Ozzy to another!
