Four Perth creatives, the exquisite scenery of Ocean Reef Beach and some unreal, magical weather...

This blog is a follow up to my 'Out of the Woods' post from last month, where I was lucky enough to collaborate with three very talented Perth creatives. The collaboration came together, as they so often do, through good old Instagram. Local make-up artist Cat reached out to see if I'd be interested in being photographed for a styled shoot (err, hello? Yes!), and soon set up a date with local Perth photographer Terry Lok and hairstylist Rachelle Lord.

The beach is my favourite place to be in the world, no matter what the season - and was therefore the natural location choice for this shoot. Ocean Reef Beach is just stunning. Ridiculously full of texture, with stretching beaches, rocky coves and sandy cliffs. We were so lucky with the moody winter weather! When we shot this a month ago, Perth was in the middle of a week of epic storms - so we were treated to grey stormy skies, swirly silver ocean and magical sunbeams peeking out from behind the rolling clouds...

Aussie Top Thirty

05.08.2016

Today, I've officially lived in Australia for thirty whole months. Wow! It seems like only yesterday I touched down at Perth airport fresh from Britain and full of excitement, anticipation and wanderlust...

In the past thirty months, I've met some amazing people, been on some incredible adventures and secured some life-long friendships. I fall in love with Australia a little more each day - and still have so much more to see!

Living in the most isolated city in the world has so far been pretty special. So, I thought it only fitting to celebrate my thirty month anniversary of living on this gorgeous island/country/continent, by sharing my top thirty favourite things about living Down Under...

Birthday Boy

24.07.2016

I couldn't resist posting about this little dude's first birthday... C'mon now, you all know what a crazy bird lady I am!

If you didn't already know, Thor literally flew into my life at the end of last year - on Halloween to be exact. He was just over three months old when we got him, and me being me (birthdays are just my favourite!), I wanted to firm up a date for his special day.

So when I did the math, I arrived at around July 24 - which really made me smile as that was the same date as my beloved grannies birthday...

My little Bit Of Fit

13.07.2016

I'm no stranger to fitness and a little bit of a geek at heart, so it was only a matter of time before I jumped on the Fitness Tracker wagon. Which I did, two years ago actually - logging every last bit of my active Aussie lifestyle via my trusty Fitbit Flex. Simple in design, and definitely durable enough to withstand more than a few knocks and galah pecks, this piece of kit has tracked my basic steps, distance and sleep data on and off for the past couple of years.

But alas, my Flex was beginning to look a little sad and defeated… So when a brand spanking new Fitbit Alta arrived in the post for me to review last month I was *just a little bit* excited to upgrade my wrist candy tracker.

I've loved exploring (and tracking) all the different features the Fitbit Alta offers over the past month - and taking a heap of pictures along the way (seriously, I took TOO MANY and they took forever to edit!)... In this review, I also share my favourite fitness essential flatlay featuring the top items I reach for when it comes working out. Enjoy!

Chasing Waterfalls

05.07.2016

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I adore chasing a good adventure... So when my girlfriend suggested visiting Lesmurdie Falls after she saw it on the Perth To Do Instagram, I was packed and ready to go in under an hour.

Located just 40 minutes out of Perth (including coffee stops), the stunning Lesmurdie Falls are nestled deep in the hills east of Perth, in the aptly named lush Lesmurdie Falls National Park...

Out Of The Woods

16.06.2016

My latest collaboration came together, as they so often do, through the old 'gram. Local make-up artist Cat reached out by commenting on one of my posts, and we soon began emailing to arrange a date for us to meet and 'get creative' together! Within a week, Cat had a full styled shoot arranged and collaborations set up with Perth photographer Terry Lok and hairstylist Rachelle Lord. I know, très excité!

Cat went for a stormy-glow look, with heaps of silver, grey and earthy-peach tones. We had so much fun getting ready for the shoot, playing with make-up, giggling like teenagers and listing to Swifty... Who's 'Out of the Woods' video was the initial mood inspiration behind this shoot.

I was keen to shoot at the beach - it's my favourite place in the world, no matter what the season. We were so lucky with the magical weather - totally lucking out with stormy blue-grey skies, moody silver-grey ocean and luscious, mossy sand dunes on the Ocean Reef cliffs...

Thor.

06.06.2016

The one thing I couldn't quite get my head around when I first moved over to Australia were the 'tropical' birds flying around the Aussie skies. Birds of every colour, varying in size (and sound!), literally flying free. I’ve always loved birds - I love everything they represent; to be wild and free. Many cultures believe birds symbolise eternal life; the link between heaven and earth.

I still remember the first day I saw a galah at Mullaloo Beach on my first day in Australia - I was instantly in awe of these beautiful, cute and playful pink and grey birdies and they have remained my favourite Aussie bird ever since. I never would have imagined what joy you can get from owning a birdie (or two) - they are such loving, comical and adorable creatures.

Let me introduce you to the main man in my life, Thor...
